The Retirement Circle Committee of the Casa D’Abruzzo Club in Epping works hard to offer its members exciting activities and experiences, engaging them on a deeper level and going beyond the classic monthly luncheon.

The secret to the club’s success in this endeavour is their attention to detail, through small touches that often amaze.

And that was precisely what happened recently, at the last two major events hosted by the committee that brought much joy to the community.

The first event was the Valentine’s Day luncheon on February 14, which saw the committee carefully curate a romantic ambience as each table was adorned with cardboard hearts containing key words related to the special day.

The committee also thoughtfully provided members with information about the history of Valentine’s Day and its saint by distributing copies of a detailed document produced by secretary Maria Marcuccio.

Finally, to add even more sweetness to the event, a heart-shaped chocolate was included with coffee. The sweet gesture made the lunch (which was not without entertainment and food, of course) even more special.

The second event was International Women’s Day, celebrated last March 14, during the club’s monthly lunch.

Secretary Maria Marcuccio reminded everyone of the importance of purple and pink, colours symbolising women’s strength and determination, along with green representing hope.

During the event, the committee honoured each woman present with a scroll containing a special thought emphasising courage, respect and gratitude for their contribution to their work, family and society.

These small gestures from the committee of the Casa D’Abruzzo Retirement Club, which attempted to remind members of the importance of women by honouring their invaluable contribution to the community, were greatly appreciated by everyone.

Bringing the wonderful event to a close was the rich raffle with beautiful jewellery up for grabs, with tickets given to each woman upon arrival.

The lucky ladies who won the coveted prizes were Anna Arturi, Concetta La Marchesina and Clotilda Mercuri.
