Adelaide’s Veneto Club is preparing to bring 2025 to a close on a high note, after a year full of new initiatives, celebrations and events that have helped strengthen its sense of community and belonging.
An important role has also been played by the younger members’ committee, called Next Generation, which has been particularly active in organising meaningful activities.
Among the most significant events was La Sagra, hosted at the Fogolar Furlan as part of the Adelaide Italian Festival. The event attracted more than 500 people and was organised in collaboration not only with the Fogolar Furlan, but also with the Vicentini Association.
La Sagra drew a diverse crowd of all ages and backgrounds, celebrating conviviality, culture and, of course, the food of north-eastern Italy.
Other recent highlights included the Melbourne Cup lunch, enhanced by a parade showcasing the most original and imaginative headwear.
There was also strong attendance at the annual tombola night, organised by Next Generation on October 25, with more than 100 people taking part. Across the six rounds of tombola, numerous prizes were up for grabs—but even when they were exhausted, many participants were reluctant to stop playing.
The Veneto Club also held its Christmas lunch on Sunday, December 14, at the Watermark Hotel in Glenelg.
The year will conclude with the New Year’s Eve celebration, scheduled at the Woodville West Torrens Football Club from 7:00 p.m.
Dinner will feature a menu including prawns and oysters or ravioli, followed by Murray Valley pork schnitzel with potato rösti or barramundi with fried polenta. For bookings, Luisa can be contacted on 8268 1490.
