Now, you could make that dream come true for less than the cost of a cappuccino.
The sleepy Sicilian town of Sambuca is selling houses for €1, or just under $2.
The picturesque hilltop village boasts views over the Mediterranean island and nearby beaches.
The offer is aimed at reviving the town’s population, as many locals have left the countryside for bigger cities and more opportunities in recent years.
The tiny town has even relaxed several official rules and formalities of property buying to make it as easy as possible for people to purchase one of the houses on offer and move in straight away.
But, there’s a catch.
The houses, some of which are crumbling and extremely aged, must be refurbished within three years of being purchased, at the cost of their new owners.
A €5,000 security deposit will be requested and returned once the renovations are complete.
