The 26-year-old Marche native, who was named Miss Italy for 2018 on Monday, has found herself at the centre of a scandal after Italian magazine Oggi revealed she’d posed nude for a photo shoot.

The photos were published on Thursday in this week’s edition of the magazine alongside an interview with the model.

The images were taken in 2015 on the Roman coast and depict Maggiorana naked and partially covered with her hair and a palm leaf.

Oggi reported that due to their risqué nature, the photos could be “non-compliant” with the Miss Italy’s regulations.

The magazine also highlighted that Maggiorana won the title of Miss Grand Prix 2009 and posed for a “sexy” calendar as part of the contest.

Article 8 of Miss Italy’s rules states that contestants mustn’t have willingly posed in any nude or inappropriate photos.

Miren, the company which organises the prestigious beauty contest, on Thursday announced that Maggiorana’s fate will be decided within five days.
