Torino had the lion’s share of possession (58 per cent) as both sides created eight chances.
The home side went ahead in under five minutes when Andrea Pinamonti headed in Marcus Pedersen’s looping cross. Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic will probably feel that he should have done better.
Duvan Zapata equalised for Torino just four minutes later when he met Raoul Bellanova’s cross at the far post for a simple tap in.
Zupata almost had a second, but his shot rolled just wide of the left post.
Torino withstood a late onslaught to hold onto a point, and even went close to pinching the win at the death, but Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli pulled off a stunning diving save to keep the scores level.
The draw leaves Torino tenth on the table while Sassuolo are 16th, currently just one point above the drop.
