Held in the Sala Michelini, the gathering welcomed members, new participants, friends and special guests in a rich atmosphere.
Among the most heartfelt moments was the address by President Renzo Valleri, who warmly welcomed attendees and paid tribute to the section’s first president, Tony Fornasier.
Fornasier founded the association in 1976. His presence on the night, alongside his grandchildren Andrew and Kaithlin, created a meaningful connection to the group’s origins.
The participation of Club Marconi representatives was also warmly received, including President Morris Licata and board members Dean Zonta and Joan Pellegrino.
In his remarks, Licata thanked the Trevisani nel Mondo for their ongoing social commitment and support of the club.
Special guests included Giuseppe Querin, national coordinator of the Alpini in Australia, long-time member Domenico Pizzalia, who celebrated his 95th birthday on the day, and centenarian Caterina Mauro, who once again delighted attendees by taking to the dance floor with remarkable energy.
Association secretary Eileen Santolin highlighted several milestones within the community, noting that March had marked a number of important birthdays and anniversaries, including those of President Valleri, Vice-Secretary Laura Chies, Nancy Volpato, Grace and Ferruccio Volpato, and Angelo and Luciana Rossetto.
A moment of reflection was observed with a minute’s silence in memory of members who had passed away over the past year, alongside thoughts and well wishes for those currently facing illness or recovery.
Messages of support also arrived from those unable to attend, including Father Anthony Fregolent, who sent his best wishes to the group.
The atmosphere then turned festive with the traditional anthem of the Trevisani nel Mondo, accompanied by candlelight and music by Alfredo Calcagno, followed by a collective toast celebrating friendship and unity.
Looking ahead, plans were announced for a group outing to the new fish market in Glebe on May 21, organised by Chies. It will be another opportunity to strengthen bonds through shared experiences.
The day brought together memory, gratitude and joy, once again highlighting the enduring value of tradition and community among the Trevisani of Sydney.
