Two military flights to bring Italian citizens back to Italy from Israel after the outbreak of war with Hamas on Saturday landed at the Pratica di Mare military base near Rome on Tuesday morning.

In total 200 Italians arrived back in Italy on the two flights.
A further 180-200 Italians are due to land at the same airport on two more military flights from Tel Aviv later in the day, taking to 400 the total number of returns on Tuesday.
The flights are being organised to enable Italians to get home amid difficulties in finding places on commercial services due to the conflict.
