“Russia has not succeeded in bending the heroic Ukrainian resistance and our firmness and unity of intent have guaranteed the necessary aid for Ukraine to defend its freedom,” she said.

“And this is a value which we must know how to protect if we want peace to return to the heart of Europe,” Meloni said.

“Dear Volodymyr [Zelensky], we will continue to be by your side.

“Italy will do it also as G7 president because our objective is to end this war and help Ukraine in the path towards a future of peace, freedom and prosperity,” said the Italian prime minister.

“Looking at the future of Ukraine also means thinking about its reconstruction, which must be supported together with international financial institutions.

“We mean to play our part and in 2025 we will host in Italy the Ukraine Recovery Conference.

“Unity is our strength, and the Ukrainian population can continue to count on us,” added Meloni.
