The home team had slightly less of the ball, but created 14 shots on goal to Como’s eight.

Venezia went ahead through Nicholas Pierini in the 19th minute when he blasted the ball in from close range after Francesco Zampano put it on a platter for him.

Pierini had his brace in the 32nd minute when Dennis Johnsen’s through ball cut the Como defence wide open, allowing him to run in on goal and hit it low into the far-left post.

Nine minutes after the break saw Venezia seal all three points through captain Joel Pohjanpalo who beat the Como offside trap to finish off Mikael Ellertsson’s cross.
