The UN’s education, science and culture agency said the Lagoon city faces “irreversible” damage from a range of threats, including the climate crisis and mass tourism.
They added that the Italian authorities need to do more to protect it.
The recommendation will be put to a meeting of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in Riyadh in September.
