The movie by Maura Delpero, which won the Venice Film Festival’s Silver Lion and is Italy’s international Oscar’s contender, scored a nod in the best non-English language motion picture.

It will compete against Emilia Perez, All We Imagine as Light, The Girl with the Needle, I’m Still Here and The Seed of the Sacred Fig.

The intimate period drama, which is largely spoken in Northern Italian dialect, focuses on the effects of World War II on a small town.

This war story without bombs or big battles has turned into a surprise local box office sensation.

The film utilises “the ironclad logic of the mountains which every day remind man how small he is,” said Delpero.

The full list of nominees for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards was announced on Monday.

The 2025 Golden Globes will take place on January 5.
