It was Verona’s second win in three matches after defeating Napoli 3-0 on matchday one.
Genoa had the lion’s share of possession while both sides created seven shots on goal.
After a goalless first half and an almost wonder goal by Genoa’s Junior Messias, Verona made the breakthrough.
Tchatchoua sprinted into the box to half volley Pierluigi Gollini’s weak parry back towards goal and across the line, despite the best efforts of Johan Vasquez to clear it.
Nine minutes later, Tengstedt scored a penalty awarded for a handball to make it 2-0.
Verona currently sit in fifth place with six points after an impressive start to this season’s Serie A.
