The gathering, hosted in the Sala Rialto, also included the election of the new committee for 2026.

Proceedings were opened by interim president Dionisio Sandonà, who welcomed members and invited a minute’s silence in memory of those who passed away in 2025.

Secretary Christina Vella thanked both the committee and members for their ongoing support, stressing the importance of preserving cultural roots.

“All events were held as planned in 2025, and it’s encouraging to see our members continue to celebrate and pass on traditions into 2026,” she said.

The assembly also acknowledged recent leadership changes. Former president Sergio Povolo stepped down in August 2025 for family reasons, with Sandonà taking over until the end of the year.

A note of thanks was extended to Povolo for his dedication. Vice-president Alessandro Cerutti also resigned during the year due to work commitments.

Following the vote, the new 2026 committee was confirmed: Dionisio Sandonà as president; Giuseppe (Joe) Trentin and Antonio (Frank) Bertoncello as vice-presidents; Nadia Dalla Rosa as treasurer; Christina Vella as secretary; and Adriana Sandonà and Rosa Bianchin as assistant secretaries.

Bruna Boarotto, Flavia Cerutti and Marilena Rossi were also confirmed as committee members.

The afternoon concluded with a shared lunch featuring pasta alla norma, antipasti and drinks, offering members a chance to connect in a relaxed setting.

The association thanked members and the wider Veneto and Italian community for their continued support and invited everyone to the next event: the traditional Festa delle Palme on Sunday, March 29 at La Baracca, Veneto Club.

The menu will include classic Veneto dishes such as polenta and baccalà, rabbit and mixed platters.
