Premier Daniel Andrews made the announcement on Triple M radio this morning.

“Tragically another Victorian has died so now there are 12 people who have died and we send our best wishes to their loved ones,” he said.

“We’ve got 1212 cases, so that’s 21 more than yesterday.”

Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said on Twitter the deceased was a woman in her 80s who died in hospital.

She said there were now 101 confirmed cases that may indicate community transmission, 45 people in hospital including 12 in intensive care, 736 people who have recovered and more than 60,000 Victorians who have been tested.

“Our message is clear: Stay. At. Home,” she added.

Andrews urged Victorians to stay home this Easter weekend.

“It’s a special time for families, it’s a long weekend but it cannot be a holiday,” he said.

The Premier said the key point was that there was some stability in the numbers.

“That means what people are doing, the sacrifices they are making – the fact that they’re working with me and they’re working with each other and staying at home, doing the right thing – we really are seeing exactly what we wanted,” he said.
