The man’s death takes the national toll from the virus to 13, after Victoria recorded three deaths in the space of 24 hours.
The man died at Joondalup Health Campus after testing positive to the virus.
He was receiving care within an isolation room prior to his death.
Health authorities have confirmed the man was a passenger on board the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship.
The ship was one of several to dock in Sydney between March 18 and 20.
They included the Ruby Princess, which has been responsible for a significant number of coronavirus infections in Australia.
In Western Australia, 25 per cent of its 231 confirmed cases have been people returning from cruise ship holidays.
Nearly all disembarked in the eastern states.
Western Australia’s first death from coronavirus was a 78-year-old man who died on March 1 after being evacuated from the Diamond Princess in Japan.
The youngest of the confirmed cases in the state to date is a seven-year-old child.
“I understand that child is self-isolating at home with their family and is comfortable,” West Australian Health Minister Roger Cook said.
Cook said 11 patients remain in Perth hospitals, and three of them are in a critical condition.
