This is how Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni responded to a tweet by Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom in the last hours she has had a telephone meeting.
“Today I spoke with Giorgia Meloni,” said Zelensky in his nightly address.
“I thanked her for her principles, her determination, her true European strength that she displays in her words and actions in defence of liberty.
We discussed the general situation and our defence against Russian aggression.
“I informed her of the situation on the ground, and of our needs.
“Already over the next months we will be able to be more active at the front.
“We will do everything to guarantee the support we have received from the world to be as effective as possible."
