Rossana Padoan Falcone, 57 years old, finished work on Friday and decided to visit the beach to relax.

She had just finished eating a pizza and was “sitting on [her] towel and enjoying the breeze” when the boar appeared next to her.

“I thought he was attracted by the pizza,” she explained to La Reppublica newspaper.

“I assumed he would try to open the box and go for the leftovers.”

As advised by various authorities, Padoan Falcone remained still, but the boar approached her and bit her on the arm.

As she screamed in pain, a fellow beachgoer came to her aid as others fled the beach.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she received a tetanus jab, antibiotics and medication to curb the threat of rabies.

After the incident, Padoan Falcone condemned the interaction, stating that it was a sign of Genoa’s “deterioration”.

“It’s unacceptable that citizens are at risk,” she said.

“I was on a beach where children and babies in prams were present.

“What if the boar had bitten the child?

“That area is also accessed by disabled people. Why are we putting them at risk?

“The beach needs to be manned.”
