A large forest fire threatened the nearby town of Lastra a Signa, the Governor of Tuscany Eugenio Giani announced via Telegram.
The fire started near a nursery, then took hold in several olive groves before approaching neighbouring crops.
The governor stated that a large team of firefighters was fighting the fire, with 10 volunteer teams on the ground, and two helicopters in the air.
As the fire has raged over the past three days, over 120 teams of volunteer firefighters have joined forces with analysts, forestry workers and operations directors to wrest the blaze under control.
Travellers throughout Tuscany have been faced with chaos, as the Florence-Siena railway line has been suspended due to numerous fires, and replacement buses have been deployed.
Italy is set to experience a record number of wildfires in 2022.
Between 15 June and 21 July of this year, Italian firefighters conducted 32,921 operations, which is 4040 more than in the same period last year.
Scientists speculate that the increase is due to the ongoing drought and more frequent heatwaves, caused by climate change.
