The hacked-up body Alessandro Venier was found in the basement of his home in the town of Gemona del Friuli last week, reportedly after his wife, a 30-year-old Colombian woman, called the police.

The reported motive for the murder was the domestic abuse Venier was committing against his wife, Mailyn Castro Monsalvo, as well as the fears for her life if he pressed ahead with plans for the family to move to Colombia with their baby boy.

“I took care of Alexander’s ‘dismemberment’ myself,” Lorena Venier, who is a nurse by profession, told the judge, according to the sources.

“I used a hacksaw and a sheet to hold the blood, and I dissected him into three pieces.

“There were no blood splatters, that’s why the Carabinieri police found everything in order.”

The woman reportedly intended to eventually dispose of the remains in the mountains, but Castro Monsalvo caved in and confessed there had been a murder via telephone.

Lorena Venier told the judge that Castro Monsalvo was only involved in moving the remains, the sources said.
