Co.As.It., with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney and the Australian School of Performing Arts, hosted the choirs Gioventù in Cantata and Giovani voci di Bassano.
The groups treated the audience to a live performance at the Italian Forum Cultural Centre in Leichhardt as part of their tour of Indonesia and Australia.
Gioventù in Cantata and Giovani voci di Bassano, founded 50 and 30 years ago in the cities of Marostica and Bassano del Grappa respectively, are comprised young singers aged eight to 25.
They are led by the exuberant energy and impeccable direction Cinzia Zanon, with the aim of promoting and developing educational, social, artistic and cultural values.
The choir, which on the occasion of their stop in Sydney held a workshop with students of the Italian Bilingual School, thrilled the audience with the performance of their show Panta Rei (everything flows).
At the end of a truly memorable performance they received a standing ovation. The choir transported the audience from tragedy to beauty, engaging all the senses and accompanying them to the desire for reconciliation and the powerful expression of love.
Before their arrival in Sydney, the choir participated in the Bali International Choir Festival 2023, an international event organised by the Bandung Choral Society, now in its 12th year.
The group, the only Italian one in the competition, won first place.
“It is wonderful to be here and to have the pleasure of listening to this fantastic choir that came here from Italy to perform in this great place in Leichhardt,” said Italian State Senator Francesco Giacobbe.
“I would like to thank Co.As.It. for its continued dedication in putting on these incredible events and sharing Italian art and culture, not only for our Italian community but for the broader community.”
