On September 15, the Italian Consulate in Brisbane had the honour of hosting the small group from the Liceo Linguistico Sandro Pertini in Genoa.
The students and their teacher - who arrived in Australia thanks to an exchange program with Kelvin Grove State College in Brisbane, as part of the Fri.Sa.Li.- network - enjoyed a unique experience that allowed them to explore a new culture and enrich their perspective on life and the world.
The main objective of their visit to the Italian Consulate was to grant the students a better understanding of its role and function.
During the day, the girls were able to interact with Consul Luna Angelini Marinucci and her staff, seeing first-hand how the Consulate plays a key role in assisting and protecting the interests of Italians abroad, as well as promoting cultural and bilateral relations.
This sharing of knowledge gave the students rare insight into a fascinating career in diplomacy.
It was also an opportunity for the Italian students to discover the past of the vibrant Italian community in Australia, as they explored the stories of the first Italian migrants who moved to this faraway land. Through these stories, they came to appreciate the important contribution made by the Italian diaspora to Australian culture and society.
Consul Luna Angelini Marinucci and the Consulate staff welcomed the students from Genoa with warmth and hospitality, making their visit a memorable experience and a source of inspiration to further explore the opportunities offered by the world of diplomacy.
The visit was an important instance of learning and growth, demonstrating how cultural and diplomatic exchanges can enrich the lives of young people and help strengthen ties between nations and communities.
