Fabio Cannavaro entered Italian sport’s Walk of Fame on Tuesday when the Azzurri’s 2006 World Cup-winning captain got his own stone at the Foro Italico complex that the Stadio Olimpico is part of.

“It is an extremely great emotion to be here as a representative of all of Italian sport,” said the former Inter, Juventus and Real Madrid defender.
“And it is a great satisfaction because this honour is the fruit of my career in Italy, which was crowned with the World Cup victory.
“For this reason, I share it with all my teammates.”
