The group, which consisted of more than 50 participants, departed from Newmarket in the early morning and headed straight for the freeway.
During the trip, after the initial exchanges of familial news, conversation concentrated on the heat of the summer season, which has been longer and more intense than what everyone is used to.
The excursionists reached the jetty on the Nerang River at Surfers Paradise, where a boat was waiting to take them along the river, to some of the more picturesque canals from where one can admire many of the most beautiful houses of the rich and famous.
Most of the participants set themselves up inside the boat, while some of the more courageous sat upstairs and outside, on the “terrace”, with great big hats on to keep the sun off.
The trip was very pleasant with fresh air and the spray of the water from below.
After the cruise, participants climbed back on the bus which took them to the Gold Coast Italo-Australian Club, which is found in the region of Clear Island Waters.
The travellers were met with a grand buffet, full of foods of different varieties which rendered everyone content and satisfied.
In the afternoon, the travellers went out onto the covered club terrace, where they enjoyed themselves playing rounds of briscola and scopa.
At the end of the day, everyone climbed back on board the bus to return to Brisbane, visibly content with their shared trip amongst friends.
