The man, a household goods salesman named Adamo, went missing on July 7, 2013, from his home in Imola.
His wife Raffaella, who has two daughters with him, never believed his suicide notes and managed to track him down to Patrasso, where he has started a new life, with the help of the TV show.
Italian media said the case resembled the plot of Luigi Pirandello’s great short novel Il Fu Mattia Pascal (The Late Mattia Pascal).
