The IIS Marconi Pieralisi institute is the first school in Marche and one of the first in Italy to make AI one of the subjects its students are being taught.
“AI is one of the disciplines that is being increasingly sought after in the world of work and we mean to prepare our young people for it,” said Marcello Pigini, head of the school’s IT department.
The course will cover computer languages, machine learning, neural networks, deep learning as well as AI ethics, he said.
Meanwhile, a row has erupted in Italy over an AI-generated calendar showing women as domestic angels, doing home chores with wings on their backs.
The 2024 calendar from Rimini-based cleaning company, Prime Cleaning, also shows the women with angelic faces as they go about their domestic business.
Deputy Mayor of Rimini, Chiara Bellini, said the images “reproduce a concept of women that takes us back half a century,” according to the Corriere di Romagna.
