The winner will be drawn at the Australian-Italian Festival which runs from August 3 to 4 at Tyto Wetlands, and although you don’t have to be there to actually win, you might as well make a day of it!
Ingham’s yearly Italian shindig is an artistic and cultural festival highlighting the Italian influence on Ingham and North Queensland and their involvement in the sugar industry.
The Australian-Italian Festival began in 1995 after community consultations were called to discuss ideas for economic diversity within the growing community of Ingham.
There were many immigrants who came to Ingham in the late 1800's and early 1900s to work in the cane fields and stayed to raise their families in North Queensland.
The Festa area is transformed into a huge piazza with non-stop world-class entertainment over two stages.
This year’s entertainment will include flag throwers, Giuseppe Cacciapaglia: the guest operatic tenor coming all the way from Italy and eclectic folk outfit Hello Tut Tut.
There will be cooking demonstrations, a free Kid’s Corner and adrenaline-fuelled games for the teens and young at heart, plus local buskers, merchandise stalls, market stalls, amusement rides and and home-made, mouth-watering Italian food from professional Italian chefs and the best local Italian nonnas!

This year an expected highlight will be the traditional Sicilian donuts called sfinci.
Also known as zeppole, these delicious donuts are light and fluffy due to their secret ingredient: ricotta.
