Giorgi made dozens of films in the 1970s and 1980s, many of which were ‘erotic comedies’, although she also took on dramatic roles.

In 2023 she announced she had pancreatic cancer on television, smiling as she did so and inviting everyone to “live without wasting time”.

Giorgi debuted aged 19 in a movie produced in 1973 by Tonino Cervi called Storia di una monaca di clausura (History of a cloistered nun) alongside Catherine Spaak.

One of her most well-known films was Roman director and actor Carlo Verdone’s 1982 bittersweet comedy Borotalco (talcum powder).

In the film, Giorgi played a dreamy young woman, Nadia Vandelli, who was madly in love with singer and song writer Lucio Dalla.

She later played a part in Verdone’s 1988 film Compagni di scuola (Classmates).

Giorgi also starred in popular television shows such as ‘I Cesaroni’ (the Cesaronis) and directed feature films including ‘L’ultima estate’ (The last summer) in 2009.
