The Tuscan regional council greenlit a bill proposed by the Luca Coscioni ‘right to die’ association with over 10,000 signatures behind it.

The new law lays out how to apply for assisted suicide to local health agencies while respecting guidelines set by the Constitutional Court so that the recourse to assisted suicide does not break Italian law.

The council voted along party lines, with a centre-left majority passing the bill.

Coscioni Association treasurer Marco Cappato had presented the bill, dubbed ‘Immediately Free’.
