“It’s my favourite day on the club calendar,” the club’s president, Vince Foti, said.

“I really love the community festivals and events we hold.

“Italian Republic Day festival has grown in recent years, showing not only the strength of heritage and culture but also the coming together of all cultures in our community.

“There’s no better feeling than seeing more than 25,000 people of all ages and backgrounds come together at our venue to enjoy a wonderful day together.

“Every year we hope the event grows more and more, and every year we’re blown away with the number of people.”

A commemorative mass will be held at 11:00 am, followed by an extraordinary range of festivities.

An outdoor market of more than 80 stalls will be selling foods such as wood fired pizza, cannoli, crostoli, gingerbread and of course coffee, alongside other stores selling novelty items and merchandise.

There will also be roasted chestnuts, liquor and pasta on offer.

Entertainment will see the likes of Paolo Rajo, James Liotta, Cosima, Arturo, Tony Sergi, Danni da Ross and Melbourne’s Pippo & Pasquale comedy duo on stage, with roaming entertainment by Fratelli Del Sud and Circus Solarus.

There will be loads of entertainment for the kids, with unlimited rides for $15, an animal farm and pony rides, plus free face painting and a free soccer clinic by the Western Sydney Wanderers.

At approximately 6:00 pm a fireworks display will conclude the 2019 Italian Republic Day event.

Club Marconi recommends that all pets be kept indoors during the fireworks display, and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

The event is in celebration of Italian Republic Day, which commemorates the Italian referendum of 1946, which saw Italians vote in favour of a republican government over a monarch, following the fall of fascism after World War II.

La Festa della Repubblica will be celebrated in Italy on Sunday, June 2.
