PARIS - Without Italy and France, the EU and the West would not be what they are, Premier Giorgia Meloni told a joint press conference with President Emmanuel Macron after the 36th Italo-Franco intergovernmental summit at Antibes Thursday.
“Without Italy and France, Europe and the West would not be what they are: we are two great nations with converging interests,” said Meloni at the press conference with Macron after the bilateral meeting in Cap d’Antibes, as part of the Italy-France intergovernmental summit, emphasizing that this is a “very important day for Italy-France relations.”
Macron, who said that the two countries were “natural and indispensable allies”, said they would cooperate on a follow-up mission to UNIFIL in Lebanon.
Meloni, for her part, said an international conference on post-UNIFIL Lebanon would take place soon, stressing that Italy and France can make a difference.
“Italy and France can make a difference on the crisis in Lebanon: the UNIFIL mission will end at the end of the year,” and we have decided to “launch a coalition to support post-UNIFIL Lebanon, imagining an international conference soon.”
