Frosinone have sealed promotion in front of their home fans with three games to spare after beating Reggina 3-1.

Reggina started the game brightly and had an early spell of dominance, getting several crosses into the box.

It was Frosinone who would score first, however, when Gennaro Borrelli rose highest in the box to head Matteo Cotali’s perfect cross into the far post, past a standing Colombi.

A hot-headed moment from Thiago Cionek saw him shown a straight red card for needlessly striking Giuseppe Caso in the head, off the ball and in the box.

Roberto Insigne punished Reggina for the act of aggression by scoring the resulting penalty.

Reggina manager, Pippo Inzaghi, was then sent to the stands for remonstrating with officials.

Six minutes after the break saw Reggina halve the deficit with a goal from Hernani.

The Brazilian coolly side-footed the ball neatly inside the right-hand post.

Frosinone restored their two-goal buffer through Caso, whose finish from a tight angle went through the legs of Turati.

Both sides had further chances to score, but the result remained 3-1.

The team coached by Fabio Grosso won the mathematical certainty of a return to the top flight now that they’re ten points clear of Bari in third.

It will be their third time participating in the top division, five years since the last time.

At the end of the match there were celebrations on the field, with a pitch invasion from fans.
