Premier Giorgia Meloni said after a NATO summit in Ankara Wednesday that she regrets nothing with United States President Donald Trump after they fell out over the Iran war and that she aims for Western unity.

“I regret nothing I’ve done,” Meloni told a press conference responding to questions about whether she regrets the political investment she made in her relationship with Donald Trump after he turned on her after Rome failed to help in the war. “I made this political investment out of a conviction about Western unity,” she added.

“It’s not a strategy I implemented with Trump’s arrival, but one I have with all my interlocutors. I have similarities with Trump, from immigration to the woke culture. Things are going as we’ve seen, but I won’t change my mind.”
