Out of the series of quakes, those with a magnitude of more than 2.0 were felt between 10:56 pm and 12:22 am, according to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).
The highest tremor was magnitude 3.6, and was felt in several of the villages surrounding the volcano.
The majority of the earthquakes had their epicentre close to Ragalna in Catania, while some had their epicentre in nearby Zafferana Etnea.
No injuries or damage have been reported.
Mount Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and the highest peak in Italy south of the Alps.
It is one of three active volcanoes in Italy, the others being the Eolian island of Stromboli and Mount Vesuvius, near Naples.
Etna last erupted in 2017, injuring 10 people – including a BBC News television crew – after magma exploded upon contact with snow.
