The away side dominated possession and created seven chances on goal to Modena’s eight.
Modena took the lead three minutes into the second half when Nicholas Bonfanti headed a corner taken by Antonio Palumbo into the near post.
It took Venezia only seven minutes to equalise when Giorgio Altare got on the end of a clever set play from a corner with a header of his own.
Venezia made it 2-1 in the 76th minute when Chris Gytkjaer took a pass to him on the spin before shooting into the top-left corner.
Bjarki Bjarkason sealed it for the visitors with a wonderful long-range strike that soared into the net.
Venezia move up to third on the table.
