The club have received a whopping 50.5 million euros so far this transfer window. The most notable departure was goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to Ange Postecologou’s Tottenham for 20 million.
They also sold Kristjan Asllani to Inter and Fabiano Parisi to Fiorentina for 10 million each, while attacking midfielder Nedim Bajrami went to Sassuolo for 6 million.
On the inbound front, the club have only spent 6.2 million euros. They’ve brought in Napoli’s Sebastiano Luperto on loan with an obligation to buy for 2.5 million euros, and Ghanian international Emmanuel Gyasi for 2 million from Spezia.
Il Globo verdict: Vicario is a big loss and they don’t seem to have a replacement lined up, which means they have faith in their backup keeper. In general, it’s usually not a good sign when a club only spends just over ten per cent of the money they’ve made. Unfortunately for Empoli fans, Il Globo fears they might see themselves in a relegation battle this season.
Prediction: 16th -20th
