Possession was roughly even as Parma created nine chances to Spezia’s six.
The home side went ahead just before the break when Hernani’s volley took a deflection that was too much for Spezia keeper Jeroen Zoet to handle.
Gabriel Charpentier sealed the win for Parma three minutes before fulltime when Zoet scuffed a clearance well outside the box, allowing the Congolese forward to run in on an empty goal.
Parma are on top of the Serie B table with five games remaining. They’re five and eight points clear of Como and Venezia respectively.
Spezia are currently 16th and in the relegation playoff zone, one point off safety.
