Thomas Battistella opened the scoring for Modena in the 15th minute with a long-range effort that had too much power on it for Leandro Chichizola in the Parma goals.

Fabio Abiuso made it 2-0 eight minutes later when he brought down a ball hoofed forward by Fabio Ponsi, cut inside his marker and finished low to the keeper’s left.

Just two minutes after the break, Ponsi sealed the win for Modena with a goal of his own, shooting into the far post from a tight angle on the right.

Parma are still on top with a four-point gap over Cremonese and Venezia, the latter of whom they play this weekend.

The win brings Modena into the promotion-playoff zone.
