Verona rose to 16th, tied on points with Udinese and Empoli. But only two points separate all three from second-to-last Sassuolo.
Atalanta looked to be cruising after Gianluca Scamacca volleyed in after 12 minutes then set up Ederson six minutes later to make it 2-0.
But Verona roared back after half-time.
Darko Lazovic rifled home a low shot from the edge of the box and three minutes later Tijjani Noslin stabbed home a cross from the right.
The point left Atalanta sixth, four points behind Roma.
