Cruise has been filming much of the latest entry in the long-running franchise in Italy, and it had its world premiere in Rome on Tuesday night.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and took three years to complete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the movie’s premiere, Cruise hit the red carpet on the renowned Spanish Steps with his co-stars and spoke of his love of making movies around the world.
“My goal since I was little was to make movies and travel the world,” he said.
“And not just be a tourist, but to work in that world and live there and understand their culture.
“Through my movies, I’ve been able to have that because everyone here has allowed me to entertain them.
“It’s a privilege that I have never taken for granted,” he added.
Meloni was chuffed the franchise had decided on Italy as its most recent setting.
“Happy that the Capital of Italy is a protagonist of Tom Cruise’s latest film,” Meloni said on social media.
“Today in Rome the world premiere. The ‘impossible missions’ are also our daily bread in government.”
She posted a photo of herself with Cruise with a smiley face emojee.
The film is scheduled for a July 12 release in the United States.
