Italy’s third heat wave of summer 2026 is underway with sun and heat battering the entire country and average temperatures consistently around 35°C and peaks exceeding 40°C, Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist and media manager for iLMeteo.it, said Wednesday.
 

“Weather models confirm the start of a new, severe African heatwave destined to last well beyond the 20th,” he said.

In Milan, the forecast is for lows of 27°C and highs of 37°C, while in Rome, thermometers will reach 36°C.

Heat storms may form locally inland and on the mountains.

Saturday with storms in the North, with the first peak of heat between Sunday and Monday, with 42°C in Sardinia.
