The 2022 Autumn Edition continues the tradition of the annual festival, and was organised in collaboration with the CO.AS. IT. in Melbourne.
Festivalgoers will be treated to live music, entertainment and food stalls featuring Italian specialties of the highest quality.
Laughter is also guaranteed, thanks to the return of comedian James Liotta to host the festival.
“Melbourne is coming back to life, and we are celebrating our culture and communities with vigour,” Lord Mayor Sally Capp said in a statement.
“The City of Melbourne is delighted to support the Melbourne Italian Festa, a much-loved community festival that fills our streets with entertainment and family fun.
“Carlton, with Lygon Street at its heart, is one of our iconic destinations.
“The Italian influence over many generations gives our city such character and the Festa is an exuberant celebration of a diverse and welcoming Melbourne.
“Whose perfect day doesn’t include panini, cannoli and canzoni?”
The Melbourne Italian Festa will take place at Piazza Italia/Argyle Square.
Lygon Street will be closed to traffic between Queensbury Street and Grattan Street throughout the festival, which will run from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Admission is free and open to all ages.
Further information and details about the festival’s program will be available in a four-page special to be printed in the Monday, March 28 edition of Il Globo.
