The survey was conducted by polling and research agency Eurispes in cooperation with the Department of Public Security and the Central Directorate of Criminal Police.

The percentage rises in the South (30.5%) and on the Islands (38.4%).

Among the crimes that worry Italians most in terms of security are home theft (26.6%), physical aggression (17.7%) and being mugged (11.1%).

Theft of personal data on the Internet worries 9.9% of citizens, while fraud, theft from a parked car and robbery reach percentages of around 7%.

Around 4.8% are afraid of being sexually assaulted and 2.9% of being subjected to other crimes.
