Italian woman, 90, sets 200m world record

A 90-year-old Italian woman set a new world record in the indoor W90 category in Padua on Monday.

Padua-born Emma Maria Mazzenga ran the 200 metres in 54.47 seconds, beating the 1:00.72 set by Canada’s Olga Kolteko 12 years ago.

Retired chemistry teacher Mazzenga said, “I could have done better”.
